A New Ireland in Brazil is a collection of literary texts, translations and essays published in honour of Munira Hamud Mutran on the occasion of her retirement from the Department of Modern Languages at the University of São Paulo (USP), marking the beggining of a new stage in her never-ending work in the field of Irish Studies.
Contributors include renowned writers John Banville, Sebastian Berry, Maurice Harmon, Michael Longley, Billy Roche and Colm Tóibín, together with leading critics and recognised scholars in the area of Irish Studies from Ireland and elsewhere in the world who have strongly supported the development of Irish Studies in Brazil. There are also important contributors from Brazilian scholars who have worked with Professor Mutran throughout her distinguished carrer.
