The Brazilian Association of Irish Studies invites you all to the solemn event in acknowledgement of the liberator of Chile, Bernardo O'Higgins, that will take place on February 20 in front of the Consulate of Chile in Rio de Janeiro.

Bernardo O'Higgins Riquelme (Chillán, August 20, 1778 - Lima, October 24, 1842) was one of the most important figures of the liberation of Chile, which became independent on February 12, 1818. He was also the first head of state, as the Supreme Director, until 1823, when he resigned to avoid a civil war. O'Higgins exiled in Peru, where he lived until the last days of his life.
