In gratitude for his contribution towards the consolidation of Irish Studies in Brazil, ABEI granted an Honorary Membership to His Excellency the First Ireland Ambassador in Brazil, Martin Greene, in 2005.
Writer Lydia Davis also articipated in The Limits of Prose; USP professor, Dr. Samuel Titan Jr. chaired the session.

Banville's last novel, Ancient Light, translated into Portuguese by Sergio Flaksman as Luz Antiga, was launched after the lecture. Further information about the book can be viewed on the website of the publishing house Globo.
